Personal Observations…

I think AJ said it best when he said we were humbled and honored last weekend to share our world on the water with so many incredible people, now our brothers and sisters.  Personally I couldn’t have been happier spending time with Arthur on the project the last months, then getting the boat ready or making the trip to the cape for the weekend. It was all well worth it and I hope I get to do it again.

The outpouring of support both from sponsors and local people who showed their support in so many ways it blew me away.   A total stranger walked up to me at the hotel and handed me forty dollars. A veteran himself, he just wanted to be a small part of it. There are so many stories like this it boggles the mind.  I only wish society had always had this outlook on our service men and women. I have a good friend, a veteran of Vietnam himself, went through hell and came back. He still has problems dealing with this stuff, but his love for his brothers and fishing brought him to the event as a captain, volunteering his boat and himself because he knows what it really means.

In the immortal words of Arnold … I’ll be back…

2015 Event

Our 2015 event in Yarmouth this past week was by all accounts a huge success.  Thanks to all who volunteered and our sponsors for making this inaugural event so successful.

Special Thanks to Arthur Johnson who came up with the idea and worked hard for the past year having no idea how quickly 3 or 4 boats could turn into 30 or more!

We will be posting pictures and articles from the event to our site shortly. Look for news about next years event already in the planning stages which promises to be even bigger!

Operation Reel Heroes Is very proud to announce Our Major Sponsor. For 2015 Raymarine has teamed up with FLIR to sponsor the awards dinner on Saturday night! They will be putting on a Old Fashion Clam Bake on the beach overlooking Sandy Neck. We think this will be a great way to cap off the event for our veterans, their guests and our boat crews. June Event Update

A message from Capt. Paul Lecesse:

Just an update on the event in June.
The outpouring of support has been overwhelming to say the least. Our website www.reel-heros.com has received over 5,000 hits this past week alone. Facebook has reached more then 2000 people nationwide and received over 150 likes the first five days it was up.

Sponsors have been coming out of the woodwork! Some very exciting announcements will be made this week about this event which has taken on a life of it’s own.

When I contacted Arthur to volunteer to assist him with his vision of taking a few vets out for a day on the water, I don’t think either of us had any Idea this would grow so quickly and become so important to so many people. Now with the help of all of you, we intend to put on a great time for our heroes and their families.

If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to help with the event, sponsor the event, or know someone who would like to attend, please contact us.

Our Mission

Operation Reel Heroes is a fishing event that we have created to help fulfill some of our heroes dream of going out saltwater fishing and spending time on the water. A fleet of boats located all around cape cod and beyond will be taking out our veterans for a day on the water fishing beautiful Nantucket sound.

On June 6th we will be taking our service men out of Bass River in Yarmouth Ma to catch some fish and spend a day on the water.  At the end of the day we will celebrate with a cookout overlooking Sandy Neck.

If you would like to help in any way please let us know. You can email us directly from this website using the contact form or email info@reel-heroes.com
